Attal Galleries and Attal Appraisal Service, located in Austin, Texas, has always been family owned and operated.  Offering the finest quality in Art, Antiques and Documents.  The following is a brief history of our business.
 
1964:  Charles Attal graduated from St. Edward′s University.  Subsequently, Charles and his wife, Cathy, opened Southwest Antique Gallery. 

1971:  Charles Attal became an accredited Senior Member of the American Society of Appraisers.  In later years, he also held the offices of Vice President and President of the South Texas Chapter.

1972:  After many requests for appraisals, Charles and Cathy officially opened Attal Appraisal Service and began their appraisal service in the Central Texas area, specializing in Estate, Insurance, Damaged Merchandise & Charitable Contribution appraisals. 

1977:  Attal Galleries branched out and began performing Estate Sales in Austin, Texas and surrounding areas for all of the Major Banks and Trust Departments, Estate Attorneys, Executors and Individuals.  Currently, the Attals conduct approximately four major Estate Sales per year.

1985:  Charles Attal became affiliated with the Appraisers Association of America. 


NOTABLE APPRAISAL ASSIGNMENTS

John Foster Dulles collection donated to the University of Texas in Austin.  The collection included important historic art treasures from around the world, including gifts from Kings & Queens and Heads of State.
  
Donation from Governor Bill Daniels to Baylor University.  This appraisal consisted of "Plantation Ranch", one of the earliest Anglo settlements in Texas.  The collection included the following:  Early Texas buildings, consisting of: The Original Plantation Home, Hotel, Church, Blacksmith Shop, Livery Stable, Barber Shop, Town Hall, Schoolhouse, General Store, Post Office, Saloon, Cotton Gin, Log Cotton House, along with over 7,000 original artifacts from the buildings. 

Since the 1980s, Mr. Attal has appraised millions of  items from abandoned safe deposit boxes for the states of  Texas, Alabama and Colorado.  Items included in these appraisals are:  Estate Jewelry, Rare Coins, Stamps, Silver, Gold, Historic Documents and Collectibles.

Since the early 1990s, Charles has been helping clients establish collections of Early Texas Art.
